Battery optimization
Android tries to save battery by pausing apps that run in the background. This can delay or drop Dixl message and call notifications. Excluding Dixl from battery optimization fixes it.
How it affects Dixl
- Messages arrive only when you open the app.
- Calls don’t ring or ring with a significant delay.
- Sync between the phone and linked devices lags.
Exclude Dixl from battery optimization
- Open Settings › Notifications › Troubleshooting in Dixl.
- Tap Disable battery optimization.
- Confirm when Android asks.
Or directly from Android system settings: Settings › Apps › Dixl › Battery › Unrestricted (exact wording varies by manufacturer).
Vendor-specific settings
Some Android phones apply extra restrictions on top of Android’s standard battery saver:
Xiaomi / MIUI / HyperOS (Redmi, POCO)
This is the most aggressive vendor and requires several settings:
- Settings › Apps › Manage apps › Dixl › Battery saver — set to No restrictions.
- Settings › Apps › Manage apps › Dixl › Autostart — turn On.
- Settings › Apps › Manage apps › Dixl › Other permissions — enable all three:
- Display pop-up windows while running in background
- Show on Lock screen
- Display pop-up windows
- Open Recent apps (square button or gesture). Find the Dixl card, swipe down on it (or long-press) and tap the lock icon. This pins the app in memory so MIUI cannot kill it when the screen turns off.
Without these, MIUI silently kills Dixl after the screen locks. The next incoming call has to cold-start the whole app from disk, which usually takes longer than the ringing window — so the call drops after about five seconds without the screen even waking up properly.
Other vendors
- Huawei / EMUI / HarmonyOS — Phone Manager › Battery › App launch › Dixl › Manage manually (enable all three).
- Samsung / One UI — Settings › Device care › Battery › Background usage limits, remove Dixl from Sleeping apps.
- OnePlus / ColorOS / OxygenOS — Settings › Battery › Battery optimization › Dixl › Don’t optimize.
- Google Pixel / stock Android — usually no extra action needed beyond the standard step above.
