Link a device to Dixl
You can use Dixl on up to five companion devices alongside your phone. Each linked device gets its own copy of your messages going forward — it doesn’t import past history, though you can optionally bring up to 45 days during setup.
Supported devices
- iPad — using Dixl for iPad.
- Android tablet or a second phone — link it as a companion device.
Link a device
- Install Dixl on the iPad or tablet and open it — a QR code appears.
- On your main phone, open Settings › Linked devices › Link a new device.
- Scan the QR code.
- Confirm the link on both devices.
What transfers to the linked device
- Your account, groups, and contacts.
- Messages received after linking.
- Past messages are not imported automatically, but you can optionally transfer up to 45 days of recent history during setup.
Remove a linked device
Open Settings › Linked devices, tap the device name, and choose Remove. The device is signed out immediately; its local message copy stays on it until the app is uninstalled.
Troubleshooting
- QR scan fails — make sure both devices have network access and the phone’s camera permission is granted.
- Messages not syncing — check that the phone is online. Linked devices initially relay through your phone, then connect directly.
- Too many devices — remove one you no longer use from the Linked devices screen.
