Fix notifications in Dixl
If messages arrive only when you open Dixl, or calls don’t ring, one of the checks below usually solves it.
Quick checklist
- Notifications are allowed for Dixl in Android / iOS system settings.
- Do Not Disturb is off, or Dixl is on the exception list.
- Battery optimization is disabled for Dixl (Android).
- The phone has a working internet connection — open a browser and load a page.
- Notification sound is not set to None in Settings › Notifications.
Test notifications
- Open Settings › Notifications › Test notification.
- Close the app completely (swipe it away from recents).
- Within 30 seconds you should get a test notification.
If it doesn’t appear, the issue is with the device, not your account.
Android — push delivery
Android notifications depend on Google Play Services (FCM) or our WebSocket fallback for devices without Play Services. If neither works, the app can’t wake up in the background. Try Settings › Apps › Google Play Services › Force stop, then reopen Dixl. On a device without Play Services, see [Missing Google Play Services].
iOS — push delivery
Confirm Settings › Notifications › Dixl › Allow Notifications is on. Focus or Sleep modes can silence Dixl — add it to the allowed list. Restart the iPhone if nothing arrives after the steps above.
Still not working
Open Settings › Help › Contact us and attach a debug log. We can see whether push is being attempted and where it fails.
FAQ
Why do messages only arrive when I open the app? The app is being stopped in the background — disable battery optimization and check notification permissions.
The test notification works but real messages are late. That points to battery optimization or a vendor power-saver; see Battery optimization and Calls don’t ring on Android.
Do I need Google Play Services for notifications? No — without it Dixl uses a WebSocket fallback, but you must disable battery optimization so it stays alive.
