Secure Backups in Dixl
Secure Backups store your messages and media so you can restore them after reinstalling Dixl or switching phones. They’re end-to-end encrypted with a key only you hold.
What’s backed up
- All your text messages.
- Your last 30 days of media — photos, videos, voice notes, and attachments.
Turn on Secure Backups
- Open Settings › Chats › Backups.
- Tap Secure Backups.
- Save your 64-character recovery key — write it down or store it in a password manager. This is the only way to decrypt your backup later.
Your first backup starts automatically over Wi-Fi.
How backups run
Backups run daily in the background when your phone is on Wi-Fi and charging. You can force one from Settings › Chats › Backups › Back up now. Only your device holds the decryption key — Dixl servers can’t read your backup.
FAQ

How much history is kept? All text messages, plus the last 30 days of media.
How do I restore a backup? Reinstall Dixl, choose to restore, and enter your recovery key when prompted.
